Dr. Chas Shira

Pastor

His wife Katie and sons and daughter: Jett, Tripp, Cal and Truly

Raised in Hamlin, TX, Chas has been serving in full-time ministry since 2006, and at FBC Coleman since April 2018. He received a degree in Finance from Hardin-Simmons University in 2001 and worked in the business world before God called him into the ministry. He then went on to receive his Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX and then his Doctorate from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Chas married his beautiful wife Katie in October 2013 in Longview, TX, and they now have four sons, Jett, Tripp, Cal, and Press (not pictured) as well as their daughter, Truly. Chas is passionate about the family, and believes his highest callings are those of being a husband and father, but he loves serving as a Pastor, and is grateful that God called him into this vocation. He loves to study the Scriptures and teach them to others, and he is excited about the opportunity to see the Kingdom of God expand in Coleman County. A close second to his love of the Scriptures is a love for sports; from football, to basketball, to baseball, he’s happy to talk about any of them at any time, and wishes he could still play them all…and be able to walk the next day.

Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Justin Smith

Associate Pastor of Worship and Discipleship

Justin was raised in a pastor’s family, where he was grounded in Scripture from an early age. After the Holy Spirit called him to faith, he began serving the church through worship leadership and teaching. It became evident that God had gifted and called him to serve His Kingdom and His people through ministry.

Following high school, Justin attended music school, where he met his wonderful wife, Leslie. The two were married in 2012 and have since built a growing family together. Justin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Religion and Christian Counseling from Liberty University and is currently pursuing a Master of Theology degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They are blessed with three sons—Preston, Micah, and Keller—and are joyfully anticipating the arrival of their fourth child.

Justin is passionate about helping the church worship in ways that are biblically rich, Christ-centered, and spiritually formative. He believes the music ministry of the church should equip, teach, and edify the body of Christ, strengthening believers to serve the Lord faithfully together. In addition to leading worship, Justin is also beginning to write music for the church, with a desire to provide songs that encourage sound doctrine and heartfelt worship.

1 Peter 3:14-15 “But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
