Dr. Chas Shira

Pastor

His wife Katie and sons and daughter: Jett, Tripp, Cal and Truly

Raised in Hamlin, TX, Chas has been serving in full-time ministry since 2006, and at FBC Coleman since April 2018. He received a degree in Finance from Hardin-Simmons University in 2001 and worked in the business world before God called him into the ministry. He then went on to receive his Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX and then his Doctorate from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Chas married his beautiful wife Katie in October 2013 in Longview, TX, and they now have three sons, Jett, Tripp, and Cal, as well as their daughter, Truly. Chas is passionate about the family, and believes his highest callings are those of being a husband and father, but he loves serving as a Pastor, and is grateful that God called him into this vocation. He loves to study the Scriptures and teach them to others, and he is excited about the opportunity to see the Kingdom of God expand in Coleman County. A close second to his love of the Scriptures is a love for sports; from football, to basketball, to baseball, he’s happy to talk about any of them at any time, and wishes he could still play them all…and be able to walk the next day.

Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Justin Smith

Assoc. Pastor of Worship and Discipleship

His wife Leslie and son Preston

Justin was raised in a pastor’s family and was taught the scriptures from a young age. Feeling led into ministry, he began helping groups lead worship at church camps and retreats at age 14. Learning different instruments across the next several years, it was clear the Lord wanted him to use his gifts to serve the Kingdom and God’s people.

He attended San Jacinto college for music right after high school which is also where he met his lovely wife, Leslie. They married in 2012. Justin completed a bachelors in Religion and Christian Counseling at Liberty University. They also have two handsome sons, Preston and Micah!

1 Peter 3:14-15 “But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

Chad Anders

Youth and Recreation Minister

Joined by his wife, Shelby and daughter Riley.

Chad is a 2017 graduate of Howard Payne University where he played baseball and was heavily involved in a variety of ministry organizations. After college, he interned with Athletes in Action (CRU) in Central Arkansas. He then served on staff for the non-profit of H.E.B., the H.E.B. Family Foundation, in a variety of roles within their Youth and Family Camps.

Once he and his wife Shelby got engaged, they returned to Brownwood where Chad served as the Associate to the College Pastor at Coggin Ave. Baptist Church, and also worked for Howard Payne for a short time. Shelby and Chad prayerfully joined our staff in August of 2020 and moved here shortly after. Shelby is a Councilor for New Horizons and they welcomed their daughter Riley in June of 2022. They are all very excited to be with us here in Coleman, America!

Since coming on staff, we have added a new Recreation Ministry which Chad will head up. He is excited to use his sports back ground to help serve our community and grow our church!

James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
