What We Believe
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” – A.W. Tozer.
The Mission
We are a local, self-governed, and autonomous church, but we choose to affiliate on the state level with the Southern Baptist Convention of Texas, and nationally with the Southern Baptist Convention, and partner together with them especially in the cause of missions.
For a general understanding of our beliefs you can read the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Baptist Faith and Message 2000
As a historically Baptist church, we are very dogmatic about a few doctrines, but within our membership you might find a number of different beliefs regarding what we would consider secondary doctrines. An example of a few of our primary doctrines would simply be the authority and inerrancy of the Bible, that salvation comes to us through faith alone and by grace alone in and through Jesus Christ, and that after a profession of faith is made a believer should be baptized by immersion. An example of a secondary doctrine would be on the return of Christ: none of us know for sure ‘when’ it will happen and there are probably a number of different beliefs on the timing within our church. But as long as you believe Jesus ‘will’ return to this earth, you will be welcomed and in fellowship with us!
If you have any specific questions regarding doctrines adhered to by FBC Coleman please feel free to contact the pastor.
