Sermon Text: Ephesians 1:1-11
The songs we will sing this week include the following, provided in a YouTube playlist here and a Spotify playlist here:
Psalm 80:1-3
How Great
Come Praise and Glorify
Isaiah 9:2-5
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
Isaiah 9:6
Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery
Ephesians 1:1-11
O Come O Come Emmanuel
Romans 15:13
This Sunday marks the beginning of Advent—a season of longing, hope, and joyful expectation as we look to the coming of Christ. Our call to worship from Psalm 80 will invite us to pray, “Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.” As we light the first candle and lift our voices in How Great (Psalm 145) and Come Praise and Glorify, we’ll celebrate the faithfulness of our mighty Savior. Through readings from Isaiah 9, we’ll hear the promise of the Light that shines in the darkness and the Son who brings peace to His people. The message from Ephesians 1:1–11 will remind us that in Christ we have redemption, adoption, and an eternal inheritance according to God’s perfect will. We’ll close with O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, longing together for the day when hope is fully realized and Christ reigns forevermore.
