Sermon Text: Genesis 1
The songs we will sing this week include the following, provided in a YouTube playlist here and a Spotify playlist here:
Psalm 136:3-9
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
He is Exalted
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
Isaiah 40:25-26
How Great is Our God
Genesis 1:3-13
Be Thou My Vision
2 Corinthians 4:6
This Sunday we gather to worship the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth, whose steadfast love endures forever. Our call to worship from Psalm 136 will lead us to praise the God who made the sun, moon, and stars and who rules over all creation with wisdom and power. Through songs like O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing, He Is Exalted, and How Great Is Our God, we will rejoice in His majesty and faithfulness. The message from Genesis 1:3–13 will remind us of God’s sovereign Word that brought light out of darkness and ordered creation according to His perfect will. As we respond with Be Thou My Vision, we will fix our hearts on Christ, the true light who shines into our darkness and reveals the glory of God. We will leave encouraged by the promise that the same God who spoke light into creation has shone His light into our hearts through Jesus Christ.
